Communication is one of the most important tools for promoting good personal and corporate development. Effective communication breaks any existing barriers that may have been created by cultural, religious, gender, racial or other interests and/or differences that are common in the human society. However, it takes quite an effort to make communication work and work for the good of a company and its employees.

Personality and behavioral differences have an impact on the types of interests and dislikes each one of us has; and ultimately determine how we relate to each other and who will become our closest friends and confidants and who won’t. In many instances however, we might find ourselves in need of help and at times not even our friends can offer us help, but our perceived rivals. Moreover, at the workplace, we might find ourselves with limited options because more often than not, we might not have our friends on our team when taking serious assignments and implementing various projects.

It is during such instances that a number of people finally get to see the value of good communication, understanding and mutual respect for each other. Even when we find ourselves in the same team as our perceived workplace rivals, it is important to note that such people may not necessarily be our “rivals” but rather they are our competitors. It is rather unfortunate that a number of people can resort to antagonizing their perceived rivals either based on their common interest for particular positions that they are jostling for or at times even based on our dislike for their personalities.

DISC tests have been employed by organizations on several occasions to help solve such standoffs and bring about cohesion at the workplace. Additionally, a DISC test or a career aptitude test free can be self-administered by any individual who wants to understand themselves better and improve the way they relate to each other. Based on a scientific study of the human psychology and behavior, DISC tests are very accurate and precise in their analyses of various situations and they have the advantage of not being judgmental like other assessment methods.

The test focuses on the key pillars of Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness to come up with indicators that can then be interpreted to give accurate descriptions of individuals’ personalities, strengths, interests and behavior. The analytics of most DISC tests happen in real time and they are objective, comprehensive and detailed enough to tell us the best way forward
